Sexual abuse is any unwanted exposure, at any age, to sexual experiences through:
 
  1.   Sexual jokes or comments
  2.   Pornographic pictures
  3.   Witnessing sexual exposure or actions
  4.   Inappropriate touch and fondling
  5.   Sexualized kissing, hugging and tickling
  6.   Oral sex
  7.   Intercourse or any other penetration
  8.   Any other sexual behaviors to which both persons are not consenting
 
 
Sexual abuse can be identified as sexual trauma when the psychological and physiological consequences include:
 
  1.   Overwhelming emotion
  2.   Intense fear
  3.   Feelings of utter helplessness
  4.   Hypervigilance
  5.   Intrusive imagery and flashbacks
  6.   Dissociation
  7.   Reduced ability to deal with stress
  8.   Sleep disturbances
  9.   Patterns of reenactment
  10.   Chronic pain syndromes
